How do you avoid coffee stains on your teeth? This is a question everyone has. Normally people start their morning with a cup of strong coffee. Coffee lovers are abundant, but the fact is that coffee is very acidic and contains Tannins. Enamel is the hardest part of teeth, it weakens due to acidic properties of coffee and leaves yellow stains on teeth. Drinking coffee in extra quantity is very dangerous for health and teeth because it can cause undesirable effects on both.

10 Tips to Keep your Teeth Stain-Free
  1. Drinking through a straw: The use of straw for drinking coffee is the best way to prevent your teeth from direct contact of coffee with your teeth. Try to grab straw if you are a coffee lover.
  2. Rinse your mouth out after your morning coffee: The easiest way of prevention is to rinse teeth with water if you are unable to brush after coffee then at least rinse your mouth with water.
  3. Make sure you are brushing teeth properly:  At least twice a day, it is necessary to prevent your teeth from the permanent stain of coffee.
  4. Always floss: To prevent stains that occur due to food particles that are stuck between the teeth and normally can't be seen. Flossing should be done at least once a day to prevent stains on your teeth.
  5. Invest In an Electric Toothbrush: Take your tooth brushing to the next level with an electric toothbrush. Electric toothbrushes can help you brush for longer without any arm or hand fatigue. They are great for removing stains and getting a thorough clean.
  6. Don't be fooled adding cream doesn't help: Sugar and cream in your coffee causes additional weakness of your enamel.
  7. See your dentist as recommended: Make sure to visit the dentist twice a year for regular cleanings and x-rays. Preventative maintenance is so much easier and much less expensive than repairing your teeth from decay.
  8. Professional Whitening: If you prefer a stronger and faster whitening solution, you can get your teeth professionally whitened. Talk to your dentist about the best option for you. Professional whitening services often include whitening gels that are applied to your teeth in a custom-fit tray.
  9. Invest in over the counter whitening products: Over the counter whitening products can be helpful to minimize the yellowing of teeth. It will be sensitive for sensitive teeth but helps a lot to those who already have staining problems.
  10. Eat While You Drink: Eating food activates the saliva in your mouth. Munch on a snack while you drink or have your coffee with a meal. This way, your saliva can help to wash away the tannins from your coffee. Bonus points if you go for apples, pears, cucumbers, or celery. These fruits and veggies clean your teeth while you eat them. That means that they can help to actively prevent stains.
